The Nissan 370Z convertible is so hot, you may want to take its top off, and with the release of the 2010 Nissan 370Z Roadster scheduled for this summer, you will be able to do that! The 370Z Roadster will be powered by the same performance based 3.7L VQ37VHR as the 370Z Coupe. This engine makes 332 horsepower at 7,000rpm and 270 lb-ft of torque at 5,200rpm, an increase of 26 horsepower and 2 lb-ft of torque over the previous 350Z Roadster model. The Roadster also comes with choice of 7-speed automatic transmission or close ratio 6-speed manual with available "Synchro-Rev Match" transmission. The 7-speed automatic transmission includes Downshift Rev Matching (DRM) and Adaptive Shift Control (ASC) to produce quick shifts when locked in manual mode. The SynchroRev Match monitors the 6-speed’s clutch pedal operation, shifting movement, and vehicle speed to control and adjust engine speed when shifting, essentially blipping the throttle for quicker and smoother shifts. This system can be deactivated as well.

The Z Roadster also uses the Z Coupe’s multilink 4-wheel independent suspension. This suspension setup is a double wishbone 2-link front and 4-link rear suspension, an improvement over the over-complicated articulated lower multi-link setup in the 350Z. The suspension is lighter and stiffer with forged aluminum arms, lighter stabilizer bar offering a 35% improved leverage ratio, and lightweight rigid rear cradle incorporated as a single piece. The rack and pinion steering design is speed sensitive and includes a solenoid valve that damps unwelcome steering kickback and vibrations. The Vehicle Dynamic Control (VDC) system is still a standard feature.

Nissan has put a lot of focus into the Roadster’s design for a comfortable ride, especially around the standard black cloth convertible top which is concealed beneath a full body color hard tonneau cover when in the down position. The Roadster was designed with a shortened windshield and aerodynamically rounded rear deck coupled to the soft-top convertible roof to enhance the overall smooth silhouette. The convertible top takes just 20 seconds from start to finish and requires no manual help to secure to- or release from- the windshield header. The top can be activated either by a center console mounted switch or when using the Intelligent Key, by a button located on the doors. The top features a high quality dual-layer insulation liner to keep out road noise and help maintain comfortable climate control settings inside. The rear window is glass and has an integrated electric rear window defroster. The 370Z Roadster also includes additional structural reinforcement over the 370Z Coupe, especially in the A-pillars and side sills.

"The Navigation Package includes a 9.3GB Music Box hard drive and USB port for iPod connectivity". We pick up our convertible tomorrow :-) Where do I look for the USB connector? The only connectors the salesman knows about are the RCA's in the centre console.
